What is CBN?

What is CBN?

As cannabis grows in popularity we'll continue to see people focusing on more cannabinoids than just THC or CBD.

THC is the cannabinoid in marijuana known to cause the "intoxicating" effects while CBD is supposed to cause the "therapeutic" effects.

CBN was actually the first cannabinoid to be isolated near the end of the 19th century. It was initially thought that CBN was responsible for the intoxicating effects in cannabis. THC was later isolated in 1964.

It has been shown that aged cannabis has higher levels of CBN. The reason for this is because CBN forms from the oxidative breakdown of THC. In other words with time and exposure to oxygen the CBN will break down

CBN is known to be non-intoxicating but could potentially enhance the sedative effects if taken with THC.
